The bread pudding is a meal with in itself I wished I would have stated with it or saved more room in my belly of the bread pudding. The seafood was seasoned well! The buffet selections was great. Cold salmon with all the fixings capers etc... cheddar cheese grits fresh made waffles all I cat is YUMMY

Haven't been to this place in 20+ years and finally made a return. Had a really nice meal outside in the garden area and it's nice that you can make an OpenTable reservation outside. What wasn't nice was another group of people who let their wild, bad-ass children run around the gardens, yelling and screaming. I don't blame the kids because they were having fun, but those parents are straight assholes who almost ruined everyone else's meal. Tried several things on the menu: Cajun BBQ shrimp, apple salad, seafood pasta, bone-in pork chop, and the Smith Island cake. The salad was good with a balsamic dressing, but the shrimp appetizer was incredible. 5 large shrimps cooked perfectly and the sauce was really good. Came with some bread to sop up the remaining sauce. The pasta salad was huge, with a lot of calamari, mussels, shrimp, in a light tomato broth (it was NOT a sauce). Was good, but didn't come anywhere close to how the outstanding pork chop. Perfectly brined and cooked, it came with a great sauce and cheesy grits. Would definitely return for this again. The Smith Island cake was decent, they split the cake in 2 pieces, but only 1 scoop of ice cream. Cake was kinda dry, so it really needed another scoop of chocolate ice cream.

If you've ever driven down 29, particularly in rush hour traffic, you've probably stopped and looked at Mrs K's a few times. Its unique outer appearance is remarkable -- and I've surely driven by it hundreds of times, always wondering what it is, what its like. The outside is beyond beautiful, idyllic even, with gorgeous landscaping and an out of place, antique looking building along the busy highway (is it a highway? whatever) that is Colesville Road. Stepping into the restaurant, its as picturesque as the outside appears. There's an upstairs restaurant area, and a -- believe it or not -- cellar. (There may even be a Mrs K, I didn't ask). My fiancee and I had dinner in the cellar -- okay, that sentence is not one I would have predicted I'd ever write. The cellar looks like it was carved partially from stone, and part basement. It has a bar area that hosts live music some nights -- I like to be able to talk during dinner, or at least hear, so live music isn't one of my favourite things. They have a huge selection of wines, to. Of course, you don't come to a restaurant to check out the scenery and such -- the food. Their menu is perhaps a little limited compared to other area restaurants, with a half dozenish apps and twice that number of main courses, but they cover a lot of territory. You can have everything from a duck breast or lamb chops to crab cakes or salmon, and its all incredibly good. The lamb chops were perfectly cooked, and just bursting with flavour. My fiancee's salmon was similarly delicious. Our appetizer of crab dip was just okay -- it was a little "fishy" tasting at time, and the bread served with it was overly hard -- but the rest of the meal and the service more than made up for it. Parking here is extremely limited, but on the other side of Dale is a huge parking lot.

I have been visiting Mrs K's since I was a kid and have plenty of fond memories of the restaurant. I remember going before the wine cellar opened. My family and I love the quaint, homey decor, especially at Christmastime. I have been for dinner several times, and brunch once. Not until dinner last night did I notice the service being slow. We arrived around 5 and were seated immediately, but didn't get done with everything until 8 because there just isn't enough servers. Our's was lovely but I could tell he was overwhelmed. Now for the positives about our experience! The food was to die for--my boyfriend and I shared the cheese and crackers plate, I had the veggie skewers for my appetizer, and enjoyed the salmon for my meal. I had two Moscow Mules which were very tasty. My boyfriend had the shrimp for his appetizer and the crab cake for his meal, as well as a glass of wine and the Sage Advice cocktail, all of which he raved about. We were able to sit in the wine cellar which is romantic and cozy, and were treated to live music. Overall it was a wonderful evening and I am looking forward to going back in the warmer months so I can sit outside.

I haven't been here since I was about 13. This place is much larger than I recall. My family set up a brunch date and we had a great time. They have a prix fixe brunch menu which includes one drink. The menu is varied, so all tastes and palates should be satisfied. The gazpacho was wonderful. As was the salmon and asparagus. My companions ordered the shrimp and grits and the crab Benedict. I was able to score 2 drinks because one person did not want their alcoholic beverage. I'm sensing a drinking pattern here. The mimosa is ok, as was the screwdriver. The restrooms are clean, however they're of the beaten path. This place may have been a private home many years ago. It's on a very busy street. Maybe you can make it a holiday tradition. I think I will.

This unexpected little cottage on the side of the road, is too cute for words! The finely manicured grounds with an abundance of beautiful flowers is striking to the eye. Figurines, decorative plates on the walls and antique trinkets, like various soup tureens are placed throughout the restaurant. The decor reminded me of my grandmother's house. A cozy and classy atmosphere that would be perfect for a bridal or baby shower, truly impressed me. Even the fact that they have tons of space for plenty of customers amazed me because looking from the outside, it doesn't look that big. Since we visited Mrs. K's on THE HOTTEST day of the year, it was no way on earth we were sitting outside, but the patio area was very inviting. Our table had a beautiful view of the patio/backyard, so we were still able to view the beautiful landscape. The patio/backyard reminded me of Alice in Wonderland. As we looked out the window, we saw a little brown bunny hopping around, and that solidified my Alice theory. Ha! Unlike the Sunday Buffet Brunch, the Saturday brunch is offered on the menu, with limited options. You receive an appetizer, main course and a mimosa for $28. I was in a crab mood, so I ordered the Maryland Crab soup and the Maryland crab omelette. The soup was really delicious. It had plenty of crab throughout. The omelette that was accompanied with potatoes was really well prepared. We did have a slight snafu earlier in the brunch, but the manager came over and offered his sincerest apologies. Our server didn't seem to be that familiar with the menu, because we had questions on a few of the dishes and she either didn't know the answer or gave us false information. However, she was rather attentive. We enjoyed the ambiance and the food, but I won't be in a rush to come back on a Saturday. I think the Sunday brunch may be a better option. Beautiful space and a change from the normal brunches I've attended in the past.
